My last two have both been wired using underslung wiring for the 12S. The first one was a DIY job, but after doing that, I thought I'd rather part with the cash and let someone else have the hassle on the second.
The wire should be in conduit of some sort. Following the brake pipe run should be fine, but don't tie it to the actual pipes in case the conduit drops and snags on something.
I'm not sure of the exact route on this one, and the other one was six years ago, but I think I saw him feeding it up from just behind the nsf wheel (with the car on ramps at the rear but the front wheels on the ground - access was tight but doable.) The fitter had a flexible rod that he shoved through from inside the engine bay, fastened the cable to it from the underside and pulled the whole lot through. A wire coathanger might do the trick at a pinch.
