I wouldn't take towbar wiring advice from a dealer, especially when it comes to the 12S. Many of them don't know what they're doing, and many will wire into inappropriate feeds. A feed rated for 30 amps is all well and good, but what if it's already powering something that draws 20 and you're expecting another 15? There's also the issue of voltage drop: It's common practice to use oversized cable for the 12S feed for this reason, and this is especially important if you plan to use a voltage sensing split-charge relay in the boot.

I'd still go for the straight feed from the battery. If it's too much of a hassle (and I'm right with you there if you say it is) then see how much a proper towbar centre will charge to do the 12S electrics. You can get a towbar supplied and fitted for under 200 quid these days, so I can't imagine they'd charge too much just to fit the extra socket to an existing bar.
