Hi Moo - the alarm is activated by air pressure sensitive sensors - this reduces the risk of anyone walking past and bumping your car just to hear the alarm go off. Whilst it may not be exactly to your liking the system is Thatcham approved and accepted by many insurers

P.S. I am sure you can remember the old type alarms which would activate if a leaf dropped on the car or a passing car would send it off - not very welcome by your neighbours in the middle of the night.
