Diesel is cheaper than petrol about 6p per L .(This bit should be in the jokes section)The govt has said theyre now worried thatthe price discrepancy puts petrol buyers at an unfair disadvantage so they will correct things gradually..Hurrah eh?
But its not going to be done by reducing petrol fuel tax slightly and increasing diesel fuel tax slightly or even reducing petrol tax to the same as diesel.
Too cumbersome ?..nah , big diesel car sales so less petrol revenue now..hence lets just screw everyone for more revenue and bring diesel fuel tax up to the petrol rate

Can't say I'm too concerned.

The petrol option would cost way more to run in any case, so I doubt if they'd be hiking the price by >50% (which is the point where it would become uneconomic to choose diesel).

It would mean the death knell for any and all commercial vehicle operator, from minicabs to heavy haulage.
