central locking via key fob

I'm having a little difficulty with the central locking for my clio, 04 1.2 16 v dynamique. Unfortunately the damn thing no longer works remotely, out of the blue the key fob or plip is no longer recognised. i guess it could be the the IR sensor and the car won't unlock. I've replaced the batteries but to no avail, the red light however was still coming with the original batteries in the fob and too lights up with replacement battery. I'm having to lock the car with the security locking button inside the car, this with the passenger door open, climb over and then lock the passenger door from the outside with the key. This does lock all three doors but is time consuming and a pain in rainy mornings!

However the car still starts fine and immobiolser works so i guess the coding is still recognised by the computer.

I'd really appreciate any comments cause after the last few bills from renault i'd like to swerve a main dealer bill if possible.

Many thanks
