HI Riggers - Xenon lamps are known as discharge lamps and need a high voltage ballast to get the gas inside to ignite. It is advisable to leave them switched off for at least an half-hour before working at them as the ballst needs to be able to discharge. Unfortunately Xenon bulbs ain't cheap - have a look at the link below - they quoted me £65 for a bulb. I suggest you check out the fuses and wiring connections first.
