Hello and welcome to the forum.

Does the red light illuminate on the key when you press it?.If not then either the batteries in the key are flat or the fob is faulty.

The key spinning in the lock is either a sign that it's the wrong key or that the lock is seized. The latter is very common as the key only gets used to unlock the car on the rare occasions that the fob doesn't work,so the barrel isn't used very much. You could try spraying some WD40 or similar into the lock to try and free it.Is the boot lock the same?.

Once you gain entry to the car there is a button you can press to work the central locking. The system only works from this button or the key fob,if you use the key in any of the door locks only that door will be unlocked.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
