Windscreen fitters, replacement, repair ?

My Clio RL 1.2 will need a new windscreen to pass the MOT as it has a long crack/scratch which falls into the wiper felt....even though it is on the passenger side and does not affect any view. ( The rearview mirror takes out more of the top screen view )

Anyhow, I do not have comp cover so the 150 Autoglass have quoted is a bit rich, methinks.

I was considering a screen from a breaker's yard ( 5 locally ) but am worried this may be impossible to DIY fit, if at all.

So maybe I can pay a windscreen fitter say 30-50 to fit it?

Anyone know a windscreen fitter in Essex or London ( or anywhere within 200 miles of London, really ) who may be able to help?

Or even where I can get a better deal on new? I am sure Autoglass and all whack up their prices if they think you are going through your insurers.

All advice appreciated. ( Like are those Halford scratch repair kits any good, or a waste of money...)
