IMO if an air filter needs cleaning, it needs replacing.
Spot on matey, unless it's a pipercross or k&n type filter, both being a big improvement and worthwhile investment over the paper types. My pipercross gives better torque and acceleration and 4mpg better fuel consumption than a paper one and cost just £37. It's reusable and has a lifetime of the car guarantee, just needs washing and re oiling every 15,000 miles/2 years.
