I'd see if you have pad wear wires to front pads and also check the brake fluid level.If all is well,then it could be a bad earth for the rear lights,this is checked by turning on the sidelights,getting someone to press the brake pedal and turning the indicators on.If the rear lights or brake lights flash or dim in time to the indicators,then the earth connections are corroded.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
