Hi there, you're thinking along the same lines as I would suggest.

Try some draught excluder tape on the underside edge of the parcel shelf, and the upper edge of the boot area where the parcel shelf makes contact.

It'll be discrete enough when the shelf's in place, plus its self-adhesive, so you don't need to worry about solvents damaging the plastic trim.

Plus, it should be a very cost-effective solution .
