i drive a 4x2 420 scania it does not matter if you freighted or empty on the flat .on a gradient on the likes of M42 or wherever it will cause accidents when you get traffic trying to merge into 1st lane at junctions and trying to force there way in.it will cause problems with tailbacks on slips. most hgv,s are on time sensitive deliveries and to be caught in a tailback will cause frustration.as for the irish trucker in the third lane he was probably chasing to catch a ferry, if he misses it he has a 12hr wait. still he should not be in 3rd lane.
