Renault Customer Services have just informed me that Bird Lime is not covered under the warranty. Is it just Renault who take this line? I have to say that none of my other cars have ever suffered in this way.
All manufacturers will state in the section relating to Maintenance & Care, that bird lime is corrosive, and should be washed off as soon as possible. None will provide a warranty for this type of damage (in the same way as no-one would cover a stonechip turning rusty) - its part of the owner's responsibilities I'm afraid.
As far as none of your other cars suffering - all cars now use water-based (rather than solvent-based) paint - EU regs - it isn't as durable.
Its a case of a hard learned lesson.
This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
