Service light and air-bag light on

I've seen this problem mentioned in relation to the Clio, where the issue seems to be the under seat connectors.

I've got the same in my W reg Scenic Sport Alize 2.0 16V. Both the Service and Air-bag lights are on.

When I bought the car three months ago from an independent dealer we got them to disable the passenger side air bag (so we could put one of the babies in the front). As far as I'm aware they left the air bag in but disabled it through the ECU . Is it possible the ECU has suddenly got confused, or is it more likely the connector issue? Or some other more worrying problem?

If I should mess with the under seat connectors, what am I looking for and what should I do?
