Hi Norm - many thanks indeed for you update - all goes to help the success of the forum. Having spoke to a guy who works in a factory that makes the sensors he tells me that not every sensor is unique as I believed but there are apparently around 10,000 different variations on the signal they receive but the chances of getting two the same are remote - that's why they have serial numbers. Once renault put the serial number into the sensor receiver system it logs the position of each wheel and should the coloured rings get detached or the wheels mixed up they can run their diagnostic system and sort things out. Additionalyy some tyre dealers have a handheld elcetronic transmitter to force the sensor to sens a message - unfortunately it cannot programme the receiving unit. Again many thanks for the feedback
