I would guess that this is more of an electrical fault rather than lack of
It maybe a problem with the
pressure switch or dash read out.
pressure test is advisable though,and if any problems are found and you have to replace the pump then I would definately have the cambelt changed at the same time.
As you quite rightly have done,it's not advisable to use your car until you can be sure that the
pressure is O.K!.

when topping up?
