I have the same problem in a Laguna 2 phase 1. 2001 1.8 privilege hatchback. The high level light is LED, and is accessed through a small panel in the tailgate (hope you have small hands)
I have tried a few times but I can't find a way of removing the unit from the car . It's not a bulb as such, as far as I can see, but a small sealed unit. It is easy to unclip from the bracket but not to remove altogether.
As it's not an MOT requirement, I am temped to leave it, particularly as Evans Hallshaw, my local Renault main agent, has just quoted me 73 to replace it. I thought they were going to replace the light, not the whole bleedin tailgate!
