Hi Ziajaijc
I have had most problems associated with tyre sensors, but have never changed the size of wheels. I have had new tyres fitted and sensor valves transferred to the new tyres without incident. There was once when replacing a tyre I was told the sensor valve was faulty, however they fitted a standard valve. When I got a new sensor valve the tyre firm fitted it in the offending tyre free of charge. Incidentally on all occasions but one the tyre sensors worked without re-calibration. My Renault agent where I purchased the valve said the tyre firm wouldn't be able to do it. They did of course and some money was saved there. I know it is always recommended to change the dust caps to plastic ones without delay. Usually metal ones that come when new corrode, and when the mechanic tries to change them they snap. Therefore your mechanic is probably right but my experience shows it can be done. Is your company a tyre specialist? because if they are it should be possible.
Anyway I hope this helps you and you get the problem sorted to your complete satisfaction
