They won't release the full details yet as they are still working on a full & final resolve to the problem. Good that they know you are worried. There are a few things you can do to reduce the risk / totally avoid a fire:-
1) Leave the switch in the off position. (Possibly reduces the risks).
2) Never allow the switch to get wet / leave the door / window open in the rain.
3) Disconnect the mirror switch at the back by gently levering it out of the door card. Tape up the connector with insulation tape to avoid it contacting / shorting out inside the door carcass. You will obviously not be able to adjust the mirrors like this / nor will the heated mirror circuit function but there will be no risk of fire either.
The choices above apply to anyone who is also worried about this problem.
