Make sure there is no lip on the drum ,I normally fit the drum wrong way round to the hub,hold it in place with the wheel nuts then file the lip off ,then adjust it as close as it will allow me to get the drum on ,,,,Reversing does work,,dont know the set up on your van without looking but assuming its got a load sensing valve at the back,force this open i.e. the lever bar away ,if you have some one with you its easy ,you get under force the lever away and they press the brake pedal this will allow more fluid to the wheel cylinders and if the adjuster is working correctly(LOL)this will adjust them,but if on your own then it could be your wifes belt wrapped around the lever to the back axle,dont use her white one as they get a bit upset with the oil marks
