replaced the surface mount GK LNQ420 transistor with a much more capable TIP142 NPN power trannie mounted outside the box on a large heatsink.
could not work out the function of the other trannie but it appears they were working in parallel to increase the load capacity of the cct. the new single bigger trannie easily copes.
The interior lights work ok now with only the one replaced.
for info: emitter goes to cct board -ve, collector goes to interior light pin and base is taken from original smd base pad.
Currently in erbus's garage:
