HI Paul - the wheel bearing is a sealed unit and comes as one piece - you could try puting it back together but I suspect it will either hum or even collapse in the near future. You mentioned the hub nut wasn't particularly tight when you removed it - sounds like someone has been there before you - so the bearing may have been damaged previously - normally the hub nuts are very tight to remove
