Madnoel: when you say linings, do you mean the pads?

If changing the pads was a good way to solve this then I'll look into getting it done?

You did say the mechanic thumped the drums - that's why I mentioned linings (brake shoes).

Before going any further you need to confirm if the rear brakes are drum or disc type.
