With brake shoes there is no disc.
They operate on the inside circumference of the drum.

Be prepared for a little bit higher cost.
Inspecting disc brakes is little more then taking the wheel off and having a look.
With drums, they have to be removed as well to see the shoes.
Cleaning both is a squirt of brake cleaner but may require removing bits if really clogged up.
I would expect suggestion from them to replace the shoes while the drums are open but ask them what thickness is on the friction surface.... less then half of new and probably worth doing.

But problem may well continue, only real answer if leaving it parked up is not to use the handbrake.
