Usually brake shoes (and pads) are sold in sets of 4. That is two shoes (or pads) per wheel.

Always swap both sides (ie both wheels on one axle) at same time. Else risk uneven braking/pulling to one side.

If ever a garage (or anyone else) suggests only swapping one shoe or side, thank them profusely before telling them where to go. It simply isn't worth the risk.
