Stef, get your bonnet latch fixed quickly ... its dangerous, as the bonnet can fly up without warning ... check the forums for the details.
Its an easy fix ... spray with copious quantities of WD40 or similar on the lock mech, and between the inner and outer cables ... once its all nice and working properly (not sticking like you have experianced,) then spray or apply to the mech some lithium grease or other similar non staining and waterproof grease and work it in by operating the lock.
I believe that this all the "Renault check" is doing ... I havent heard of them replacing any latches unless siezed.
