In the past I have managed to remove the glass mirror from a 2000 espace. If you tilt the mirror either in or out as much as it will go and carfully get a flat bladed screwdriver behind it - there is a clip that should push in to allow you to prise it of. Basically - from memory there is a plastic circular disc with legs protruding out bonded to the mirror - this in turns clicks and locks in to a circular disc that has the socket and ball joints that control the position of the mirror.
Hope this helps - just be careful and shine a torch behind the glass if you can you might just be able to see the clipping arrangement - don't pull on the glass too much - try and use the screwdriver to prise the pastic part out.
Somebody else may have other tips in removing it
