I've not heard the stories about not disconnecting the battery when you have a coded key.......

I've worked in a bodyshop that would always either disconnect the battery or use a 'battery saver' when welding up cars,regardless of age.

If the coded keys were effected by having a battery disconnected,what happens when you need to replace the battery or when the battery goes flat?.There are issues on newer cars about jump starting them,but not disconnecting the battery.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
