Hi Jacob - how many cables are in the connector going to the temp sensor and did you do any voltage or resistance readings. The temp and fuel guages don't run at 12 volts - it's usually around 9 or 10 volts as the system is fitted with a volyage stabilsier
The only sure way of testing a temp sensor is to check its resistance when cold and then when warm.
there are two wires in the connector (black) which attach to the sensor. Its strange because when earthing the one pin the fan operates, but the other seems to do nothing. Im under the impression that one pin controls the fan and the other controls the temperature gauge. However, this then begs the question of where does the
take the coolant temperature from?
Admittably I haven't done any resistance tests yet because I have to remove the boost pipe leading to the intercooler to access the sensor. But I guess thats next on the list!
Thanks for you advice, will start resistance checking tomorrow.
