Never assume an MOT certificate is any guaratee of a cars condition, quality or reliability.
For example one of the oldest tricks in the book is to swap wheels or parts for that matter with another car just to get the car passed and then swap the bits back.
We all know that MOT certs can be fraudulently obtained by both the examiner turning a blind eye or whoever submits the car for test has rigged the car.
When buying a car I never take heed of whether it has an MOT certificate or even service history as both can be rigged in an attempt to fool the customer. Even genuine dealer service histories may not be what they claim.
Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware.
