When it comes to low value cars (500 say) most garage jobs or major parts are going to equate to much of this value. On the other hand you don't have the big annual devaluation that you'd loose on an expensive car. It is swings and roundabouts. I've spent over the market value of my car over the years but to me its worth it as its so reliable and is perfect for stuff I need to carry. If the bodywork and engine/gearbox are excellent its worth keeping but if its all shabby and rusty you might as well pick up another one for similar money but choose wiser this time Lightning doesn't always strike twice.

Don't take without giving in return
