The change in light wavelength from the LED's provides a better cutting light for driving in the rain over the normal bulbs.

Remember that wattage is a measure of the power drawn / used by the bulb. 1 Amp at 10 Volts is 10 Watts of power consumed. This isn't a measure of the light intensity produced.

LED's can produce a much brighter light in terms of lumin over a traditional bulb for less power drawn.

A LED bulb int he house can draw 25 Watts but produce the same light as a 75Watt bulb
