Hi Scatz - you have my sympathy - why on earth could renault not have labelled the darn things. When relays activate they usually make a clicking sound or you can feel them pulsing - by getting someone to switch on the ignition and operating switches in sequence and feeling or listening carefully you may be able to figure out which one does what. I know it ain't the perfect answer but it may narrow the field of search.
I have had a close look through the Haynes manual for the Laguna II (may not be the same for your car though) and the main feed supply to the motor is a red cable - (are you getting power to it). The earth cable coming from it is brown but changes to black somewhere along the way before going to an earth point in the left-hand front foot well. It may be worth connecting a tempory earth to the motor and see what happens
