Hi Scatz assuming the maximum permissable current is 20 amps and voltage is 12 the resistance of the motor should not be less than 0.6 Ohms. According to my calculations using Ohms Law. Any thing less will cause excess current which may have blew the resistor in the first place. Have you any way of checking the motors resistance.
