The official Renault towbar wiring loom for the Laguna II works like this, so they probably do one for the Scenic. If I recall correctly, it was about 50 quid (which would buy a lot of Scotchloks) though that did include both 12N and 12S sockets and a trailer flash relay.

To be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with the way it was designed. I only bought it because I thought that the car would need bypass relays (rumours of multiplex wiring on the lights) but the Renault kit simply wired the socket in parallel with the normal bulbs as you would on a conventional car. The connections are clumsy, though effective (two 'female' connectors for each light, one with a little strip of circuit board in it to turn it into a 'male' and secured with tie wraps) and the wiring to the socket was individual wires bundled in tape, rather than proper insulated cable.

This time around, I paid a towbar fitter. He just used Scotchloks and everything seems to be fine.
