Re: Jack and jacking points

Hi folks, I'm new to the forum, this is my first post.

This is something I am interested in knowing. I have recently moved to a 2000 plate Renault Scenic 1.6V.

the brakes are starting to bind (rear), I have a trolley jack, axle stands, but when I jack it up the bodywork seems to creek, I am not sure if its the best point to jack it. I tried the point where the sill meets the flat crossbar at the rear wheel. but wasnt comfortable with it. the crossbar looks cracked and rusty. i then tried the oval hole part on the sill. but again it was sounding crunchy?

any advice on going forwards. I prefer to do as much work on my car as poss, its my way of bonding with my car and offcourse saving money. i was a yts mechanic, I dont have the haynes manual for it yet, but looking around at posts the haynes manual is basic on info on jacking points.
