It may or may not of had a new cable, good practice to fit one as by the time the clutch is knackered the cable has seen better days.
Different makes of pressure plates are often heavier in operation than others.
As the clutch friction plate wears down the friction surface of the pressure plate needs to move closer towards the flywheel to clamp the clutch friction plate, this makes the spring fingers of the pressure plate stick out at a greater angle and decreases the leverage the mechanism has on the pressure plate spring, so the pedal feels heavier to an extent.
Whether you could attribute the wearing down of the friction plate to driving style.... that's the question in debate
