I had a previous problem with the UCH which is on the passenger side under the floor next to the fuse box. The box had a dry joint, when i turned on the ignition the dash lit up but then blinked off again, Car started alright but indicators and windscreen wipers didn't work, abs warning kept flashing. Warmed up the UCH box either by car running with the heating or hot air applied to the box slightly with hot airgun and the problem was gone, worked all day. I contacted a breaker company up North and they said i needed a kit which was a ECU , UCH and a key and barrel section all from same vehicle. I had to go through 3 kits as the first two had corroded electronics in the UCH box as this sits in the foot well. ( Note Always inspect electronic boxes ECUs and UHC etc from Corrosion that are bought from Breakers as these components can be exposed to the elements)
I replaced the ECU and the UCH but the key barrel and wiring was very daunting to carry out. With the help from you guys i found that you don't need to replace the key and barrel section all you need to do is change the small square block 5mm x 4 x 4 in your key fob, this this is the only bit that is compatible with the coil and immobilising unit in your UCH and ECU . The other part of the fob only operates the central locking. So i can still use old key and barrel and central locking unit part.
Car works fine Apart from the service light showing when i start the car. Any one know how to reset of this service warning light.
