In fairness I'm probably relating back in time to around 1964/5 I'd got a 1957 Vaulhall Victor back then, everything went rotten on those.
I doubt they'd be able to sell it for brake pipe use if it wasn't legal.
TBH I found it easy enough to work with, both flaring & bending
But I wouldn't for one minute dispute what Dancingdad says about copper being easier to work with & is virtually corrosion proof.
Currently in hondo's garage:
1.6 Valve-Matic SR. Red hot, toasty feet.
