"head thingy" would probably be the head gasket which is a leakproof seal.

If she claims to have had the cambelt and headgaskets changed I would assume that she should of had some paperwork to show this! Did you get any paperwork with the car? If your driving around believing the cambelt has been changed and it has not then you could be in for some serious repair bills, or a scrap car, if it goes.
