Thought I'd update you on the outcome. I removed the fuseboard and took it indoors to see if I could see a problem by unclipping the back and effecting a repair if necessary. Unfortuneatly the way the board is made, you'd probably never get into the 'sandwich' of layers inside without breaking something.
The one pin that was showing signs of some arcing was the one that deals with the radio/c.locking etc., so I thought I'd clean it up, but it came away from the board with virtually no resistance.
I decided to get a secondhand board, which came 'bare' - transferred all the fuses and relays, and problem solved. The lights are back in operation. So you were right - the problem was within the fuseboard.
Many thanks for your suggestions.
