Hello and welcome to the forum.
There could be a couple of different faults here,but I'll try my best.
The engine cutting out when driving could be a
sensor fault,or if the engine is erratic when accelerating it could be the vaccuum pipe between the
(on the bulkhead) and inlet manifold is split.This would cause the car to hesitate badly intermittantly,and thinking about it,it could also cause the engine to 'hunt' on idle.
If the rev counter is erratic but with no change in engine speed,then there could be a fault with the gauge it's self.

Apparantly renualt have decided to change the connection plug on the new
sensor and charge £15 + VAT for the coversion loom (2 wires & a plug) + a further £25 + VAT for the sensor itself. wondering if you know a cheaper option.
