Hi Captain - I suggest you get the battery load tested and the alternator output checked. Most battery suppliers will do it for free in the hope of making a sale. Unlike petrol engines diesels need plenty of grunt to get thm going when cold - constantly tryig to run a diesel with a poor battery puts extra strain on the starter motor. A battery is much cheaper than a starter.
Cheers noel, i was thinking about putting a multimeter across the battery to see how much the alternator is kicking out(where should it be? around 14.5volts?), i also noticed a bluey white fur around one of the battery termianls too
Any idea what the buzzing is before it starts? is that to do with the fuel pump or pre heat?
