A few basic things on battery maintenance include keeping the terminals free from corrosion, checking the earth connection/s and making sure the lead to the altenator is securely fixed and is not chaffed is all it takes. Any loose connections will put a strain on the system leading to problems with charging etc. Some batteries will need topping up with distiled water but that seems to be a thing of the past. All my cars have run for up to 7 years with no problems as long as you take time to do the simple checks. It is equally as important as checking the
and washer water levels.
