Just to note that I have the issue fixed.

Brought to a local mechanic who connected to computer but found no errors .. said he'd have to look at it the old fashioned way and replace coil 's one by one until bad one found.

He started with the 2nd from left and car started and ran perfectly so concluded that this was the problem.

This was a coil he had 2nd hand.
Wonder is it now best to replace all coils or just buy a spare and keep it ready? Car is 2003 with 143,000km.

The car was driven for weekend without this being fixed - would this have damaged the Catalytic converter (how would I know?) or if I've got away with it up to replacing it does that mean it hasn't been damaged and I can relax?
