Question Megane - Cabriolet - Alarm - Flat Battery Problems

3 days ago I got me a Megane Cabriolet (1998) 2litre. Chuffed to bits with it and its a tidy second hand car. It is alarmed and has immobiliser too.

BUT - the alarm goes off often (can't deduce why.) Have read the manual and believe I am doing everything right. Overnight the alarm must have gone off repeatedly (though I didn't hear it, which is strange as it is parked under my window and I wake up if dust settles!) though I DID hear a regular beeping as I got up, which on trying to get into the car I realise was the battery warning alarm as it is now dead and nothing works - least of all starting it up.

Is it possible to disarm the alarm other than for the central locking?

What have I done wrong?
