Thanks 137MPH and madnoel10. I have just had a look under the car and the front wishbone connector rod had come off. It was still there but the upper ball was a bit corroded so will do as 137MPH suggests and make up a new connector rod with either some RC stuff or a cannablized ball jointed throttle linkage. Looking at the Renault Dialogys parts list it seems that Renault only supply the whole sensor with the arm @ around 100.00 - thanks Renault.

I have attached a PDF of the parts in question for anyone who is not familiar with this part.
