I work for a Peugeot specialist and we look after a fleet of 406 and 806 HDi 110's that are used as taxi's.The service interval for this particular engine is 12,000 miles and the company that run the cars usually go double this plus a bit more before having an oil change. To date the lowest mileage indicated on one of their 806's is 180,000 miles!(the highest is near 300,000),and all but one are on the original engine(the failure was not due to oil spec!).We have always used the correct 10/40 semi synthetic(as advised by Peugeot) oil in them and genuine oil filters(as they are cheaper than aftermarket ones!).I think when a manufacturer has to blame the oil grade for premature turbo failures it is slightly misleading.I am all for using quality engine oil as it will extend engine life, but to hide a design fault behind the type of oil that is used is contraversial to say the least......

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
