Thank you for that link Ottoman, that certainly helps.

The Megane strip seems slightly different, the 'keyhole' slots are much the same and there is a peg that goes into a hole, presumably to stop it just sliding forward and falling off (which is what I presume happened with the previous one). That's how I have it assembled at present, and it feels reasonably secure.

However, there is a small white plastic clip, supplied separately, which seems to slide into a channel behind the rubbing strip (adjacent to the retaining peg mentioned above). It's called a safety clip (clip securité) on the parts invoice. I just cannot work out what this does and how it secures the strip - all it seems to do is push it away from the bodywork. Maybe I'll have to call in to the main dealer (where I got the parts) when I am passing, it's a bit of a trek away.
