Apart from a minor TDC problem back in August, I've had weeks of trouble free motoring from my Meg. No problems with starting from cold or hot and nothing unusual when running. I realised that the battery was on its way out (the original one so after near enough 9 years, I'm not surprised) and the cold weather made me think it was time for a change. The terminals and connectors were a bit dirty/corroded so I duly cleaned these and stuck the new battery in on Friday. The car then started fine from cold.

This morning (having not used the car since), It started but then the revs wavered up and down and then it cut out. I managed to restart and kept the engine running for approx 30 secs on the throttle at which point, the engine management seemed to take over and all was well again. Same thing this evening (although ok during the day).

a- could this be an immobiiser issue (or would this result in no start at all)
b- could this be an earthing problem
c- am I stuck with one of those lovely Renault mysteries.

Any help/suggestions appreciated!

same with mine on starts found it was bad earth points replaced them and now fine
